In case you haven’t noticed by now, it’s time you heard: cbdMD now has full spectrum CBD products! But of course with the introduction of our brand new full spectrum CBD line comes a host of inevitable questions such as:
- What is full spectrum CBD?
- How does full spectrum CBD differ from broad spectrum CBD?
- Does full spectrum CBD have THC in it?
- Is full spectrum CBD legal?
- Why did we decide to produce full spectrum CBD products?
So without further ado, let’s get down to the full story of our flagship full spectrum CBD oil products and how this new formula differs from our award-winning Superior Broad Spectrum CBD oil.
What Is Full Spectrum CBD?
Full spectrum CBD products, like broad spectrum CBD and CBD, isolate products, are made from industrial-grade hemp. But unlike the other two formulas, full spectrum CBD uses a full range of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and flavonoids found in the hemp plant. With a multitude of phytocannabinoids, including THC, full spectrum CBD products make the greatest use of the entourage effect.
When it comes down to it, the presence of THC is the real factor that makes the difference between full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD products. But it just might surprise you how impactful that presence can be when it comes to the power of the entourage effect.
Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum CBD
Broad spectrum CBD and full spectrum CBD products do a lot of the same things because they have almost the same ingredients. Developed with a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes, both CBD formulas offer the benefits of the entourage effect to varying degrees.
The biggest difference between full spectrum CBD and broad spectrum CBD is that while broad spectrum CBD contains most of the cannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plant, it excludes THC. Full spectrum is minimally refined and does include THC – the legal amount, that is.
Therefore, if THC is a big concern of yours – whether you have to take regular drug tests or you live in a state that doesn’t allow you to order products that contain THC – our THC-free* Superior Broad Spectrum formula might be the better choice for you.
Does Full Spectrum CBD Have THC In It?
Yes.
Even though the amount of THC in full spectrum CBD products is minimal, it’s just enough to trigger the entourage effect within your endocannabinoid system. At the same time, the amount of THC contained in full spectrum CBD products is not enough to get you high.
As to whether or not full spectrum CBD will show up on drug tests, the answer is a little more complicated than a simple yes or no. While the THC in full spectrum CBD won’t get you high, it can trigger a false positive on a drug test if taken in large enough quantities.
Which brings us to the next question: is full spectrum CBD legal?
Is Full Spectrum CBD Legal?
Despite the fact that full spectrum CBD does have THC in it, our full spectrum CBD formula contains less than the federally legal maximum amount of THC, which means it is less than 0.3 percent of THC. Because we follow the federal regulations regarding THC content, you can travel, fly, and order our products across state lines.
That being said, not every company that produces, or claims to produce, full spectrum CBD products abides by federal regulations. No matter what CBD company you choose to purchase, you should always make sure they provide independent ISO certified third-party testing results before you make that final click.
Why We Decided to Produce Full Spectrum CBD Products
While our broad spectrum CBD products are amazing at what they do (and the perfect solution for those who want the benefits of CBD without the risk of failing a drug test), they don’t make full use of the entourage effect. Because of this, broad spectrum, CBD doesn’t offer full plant benefits.
This is where full spectrum CBD comes into play.
By integrating a smidge of THC, the cannabinoids contained in our full spectrum CBD formula are better able to play off of each other and increase the benefits you’ll receive. Because like the rest of our products, we want to bring you nothing but the best when it comes to CBD oil products.
The Benefits of Full Spectrum CBD
Full spectrum CBD products offer a whole-plant experience within the limits of the federally legal amount of THC (less than 0.3 percent). While similar to broad spectrum CBD oil, as we mentioned above, the presence of THC boosts the entourage effect so that you receive the maximum benefits possible. In a safe, controlled formula of course.
That being said, full spectrum CBD oil offers you the same great benefits as our traditional broad spectrum CBD oil, including:
- Promoting a sense of calm and relaxation
- Improving your mood
- Maintaining emotional homeostasis
- Improving your sleep
- Regulating your sleep cycle
The Entourage Effect and the Most Important Cannabinoids
The ability to utilize the entourage effect is where full spectrum CBD really shines. Although broad spectrum CBD contains most of the cannabinoids in the Cannabis sativa plant, full spectrum CBD formulas can contain all of them.
When a CBD formula contains more than just CBD, as many do, the cannabinoids come together within your body to support one another. While CBD and THC are probably the most well-known cannabinoids, many CBD products contain a range of other cannabinoids, including CBG, CBN, and CBC.
CBG, or cannabigerol, is considered a minor cannabinoid because the Cannabis sativa plant naturally produces it in smaller quantities than other cannabinoids. Less than 1 percent, in fact. That being said, the acidic form of CBG, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), is known as the all-powerful “mother cannabinoid,” because a lot of the other cannabinoids contained within the plant started as CBGA before degrading into the various other cannabinoids.
Cannabinol, a.k.a. CBN, however, is better thought of as the opposite to CBG, in a way. What this means is that while CBG degrades into other cannabinoids, CBN is formed within the Cannabis sativa plant as it matures, and THC breaks down into CBN. This also means that as the hemp plant matures, its composition begins to contain less THC and more CBN. Because of its relation to THC, CBN can be used to test the maturity of a hemp plant. The more CBN a hemp plant contains, the older it is.
Despite its origins, CBN does not have the same psychoactive properties as THC and only contains about a fourth of THC’s potency. The real characteristic that sets CBN apart from the rest of the cannabinoids in the Cannabis sativa plant is its reputation as “the sleepy cannabinoid.” That being said, the majority of research into CBN and its relationship to sleep involves studies conducted on animals.
CBC (cannabichromene) is included in our full spectrum CBD formula to inhibit endocannabinoid inactivation and boost the benefits of the entourage effect. Some studies also suggest that CBC may work with your CB2 receptors to support your gastrointestinal health as well.
While CBD, THC, CBG, and CBN all interact with your body through the endocannabinoid system (ECS), they have slightly different benefits. CBG, for instance, bonds with your ECS in a similar manner to THC, and by binding to the CB1 receptors in your brain, it may actually counteract the effects of THC. CBD, on the other hand, typically only affects the CB2 receptors within your ECS.
CBN, like CBG, can attach to both your CB1 and CB2 receptors. Within the entourage effect, CBN can also boost the psychoactive effects of THC. However, the full benefits of CBN are still unknown without further study. And of course, as we mentioned above, CBC may help maintain the health of your gastrointestinal system (although this also requires further study).
Our Full Spectrum CBD Products
Designed with our brand new unique formula of CBD, CBG, CBN, and CBC, our full spectrum CBD products offer a complete, whole-plant, whole-body CBD experience. Not to mention the fact that like the rest of our products, they’re compact, easy to use, and portable.
As we stated above, our full spectrum CBD line promotes a sense of calm and relaxation while helping to manage your everyday stress and supporting your daily wellness routine. And of course, all of the benefits are boosted thanks to the entourage effect.
To kick off our first-ever full spectrum CBD line, we’ve brought in two fan favorites to get things rolling: CBD tinctures and capsules.
Full Spectrum CBD Oil Tinctures
Our full spectrum CBD oil tinctures are available in either chocolate mint or natural flavors and come in a variety of strengths, including 750 mg, 1500 mg, and 3000 mg CBD concentrations. Just like our broad spectrum CBD oil tinctures, full spectrum CBD oil tinctures can be taken straight, mixed with your morning coffee, or added to your favorite recipe.
And just like our other tinctures, they’re easy to measure with our calibrated dropper so that you can get the exact benefits you need in 30 minutes. Available in either a natural earthy flavor or delicious chocolate mint perfect for any dessert, our full spectrum CBD oil tinctures offer a range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids for the complete entourage effect experience.
Full Spectrum CBD Capsules
Like our brand new tinctures, our full spectrum CBD capsules offer all the amazing benefits that come with the whole-plant entourage effect, all in an easier to use form. Unlike our full spectrum CBD oil tinctures, our CBD capsules are only available in one concentration, although we offer a choice of 30-count or 60-count bottles.
With 33 mg of full spectrum CBD in every capsule, our CBD softgels offer you the easiest, most foolproof method to obtain the CBD benefits you want without the annoyance of measuring. And don’t worry, our softgels have all the same cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes as our full spectrum CBD tinctures.
Full spectrum CBD softgels are the perfect solution for those that want all the benefits that full spectrum CBD has to offer without the mess that comes with oil. Plus, there’s no need to hold softgels under your tongue before swallowing, so you can get back to your normal routine without waiting. However, CBD capsules will take a little longer to reach your bloodstream than our CBD tinctures since they have to pass through your digestive system first.
