Team cbdMD athlete Keith Richardson is a professional MMA fighter, trainer, gym owner, and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. After his service in the Middle East, the former state wrestling champion turned to MMA training to help with his transition to civilian life. He’s described MMA as his “warrior release.” His first professional match, a win by submission, took place on May 2, 2009, in Akron, Ohio.
Over 10 years later, he continues his professional fighting career while operating Modern Warrior MMA, a martial arts school based in Rock Hill, SC.
He recently sat down with our production team to talk about his career in the military and how he defines the word “veteran.” In the video, the three-tour Iraq War vet discusses why he chose to serve, what he sacrificed to do so, and how his service enhanced his view on family.
